Position Summary: The Wellington Hospital is the largest purpose built private hospital in the UK and has established a national and international reputation for offering the best in healthcare. Situated in St John’s Wood, North London we provide the highest standards of clinical care across a full range of specialised services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to work within the adult Speech and Language Therapy team. As an experienced therapist you will provide a service to inpatients on our 45 bedded Neurorehabilitation Unit.

The post involves providing a high quality patient-centred rehabilitation service for inpatients with acquired communication, voice and swallowing disorders, as a result of traumatic brain injury, stroke and other acute neurological conditions. The successful candidate will need to have extensive experience working in a multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist services to adults with complex neurological conditions. Experience in working with dysphagia patients, with competency in performing videofluoroscopy and tracheostomy management are essential.

General
Responsibility:

 To assess, diagnose and treat acquired swallowing and communication difficulties
in adults
 To provide training and support to local staff at the Wellington Hospital as
required
 To provide a specialised service on the acute rehabilitation unit and
rehabilitation unit and supporting the Lead Speech and Language Therapist in
raising the profile of both the SLT service and rehabilitation unit

Requirements  The candidate will need to have extensive experience working in a
multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist services to adults with complex
neurological conditions
 Experience in working with dysphagia patients, with competency in performing
videofluoroscopy and tracheostomy management are essential
 Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of
professionals and services are crucial
 The successful candidate must have a professional qualification in Speech and
Language Therapy, Post-graduate dysphagia training and full registration with
RCSLT and HPC
 The post holder will also have experience with supervision of more junior staff
and students
