Position Summary: Deputy Chief Physicist with lead role QA and supporting the Chief Physics in the operational management of the department and strategic development of Radiotherapy services within HCA.
General
Responsibility:

-To interact and liaise with the physicists, radiographers, clinical oncologists, nursing and clerical staff.
-To collaborate and co-operate with scientists at the National Physical Laboratory.
-Treatment planning - to ensure accuracy and precision in all treatment planning procedures.
-To help develop protocols within the Department and in close collaboration with other staff groups within the clinic.
-Clinical Dosimetry for both special and routine patient treatments - to ensure thorough checking of special techniques.
-Quality Assurance of Treatment Units and Dosimetry Instrumentation - to ensure that QA programmes for all equipment are implemented and results reported to Chief Physicist.
-Maintenance of professional standards should be reflected in internal reports and external publications.
-To meet on a regular basis with the Chief Physicist as appropriate
-Radiation Protection - to contribute to the teaching programme for nurses associated with sealed and unsealed sources. To deputise for the Chief Physicist on RPA matters.
-To supervise the maintenance programme

Requirements -Hold a good honours degree or postgraduate degree in Physics or equivalent.
-Have proven experience as a senior clinical physicist in Radiotherapy Physics
-Be registered with the relevant required body
-Be a member of IPEM or equivalent body
-Have the ability to work alone or as part of a team
-Have team building skills
-Follow Medical Physics policies and procedures
