Position Summary: The person appointed will be a key member of the paediatric oncology Pharmacy team. As such they will assist in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service to the consultants, patients and staff of the paediatric oncology ward. The work will involve the preparation of parenteral cytotoxic chemotherapy to both in and out patients, and the provision of pharmacy services to the Oncology wards and
departments.
General
Responsibility:

1. To carry out the preparation of parenteral cytotoxic chemotherapy, ensuring their
pharmaceutical appropriateness and timely issue.
2. To assist the Senior Oncology Pharmacy Technician in the routine monitoring of the Oncology Pharmacy.
3. To assist the Senior Oncology Pharmacy Technicians in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the cytotoxic reconstitution unit.
4. To provide a pharmacy top-up service to the Paediatric Oncology Unit, and Oncology inpatients.
5. To provide a pharmacy top-up service to the pediatric ward in the absence of the regular attending technician.
6. To carry out Oncology dispensing duties when required.
7. To asis the clinical paeditaric oncology pharmacist with policies, procedures and
standard operating procedures as required.
8. To assist the clinical paediatric oncology pharmacist with audits when required.
9. To comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
10. To comply with the Health &Safety at work act, COSHH and other relevant regulations.
11. To undertake personal continuing education and training as necessary to acquire knowledge and skills with a view to ensuring a high level of competency in carrying out tasks required.
12. To participate in the on-call service.
