Position Summary: To provide a quality, multi-disciplinary analytical role enabling the provision of a comprehensive 24 hour pathology service for laboratory users.
General
Responsibility:

-Speedy and accurate processing of samples
-Interpretation, validation and timely reporting of results
-Monitor and enter results from referral laboratories
-Participate in the multi-disciplinary Night Shift Rota
-Deal with telephone enquires
-Assist BMS3/Section Head/Manager with the day to day running of their section
-Deputise for BMS3/Section Head/Manager as required
-Ensure equipment in section working correctly
-Ensure internal and external quality schemes are performed
-Liaise and assist specimen Reception and other sections within the laboratory
-Adhere to Health and Safety policies
-Follow HCA policies and procedures
-Follow SOP's and in accordance with manufacturers operating instructions
-Stock control and rotation
-Attend HCA mandatory training
-Maintain professional development records in compliance with IBMS and HPC requirements
Requirements " BSc
" CPSM Registered - Biochemistry
" Member if the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
" Evidence of continual personal development
" Flexibility - multi-disciplinary skills
" Work effectively under pressure
" Up to date Biomedical knowledge
" Up to date technical skills
" Good communication skills
