Position Summary: The person appointed will be a key member of the Oncology Pharmacy team. As such they will assist in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service to paediatric oncology patients and staff at The Harley Street Clinic. The work will involve the provision of parenteral chemotherapy to both in and out patients, as well as day to day managerial responsibilities for various elements within Paediatric Oncology Pharmacy.
General
Responsibility:

Cytotoxic Reconstitution

1. To supervise the preparation of parenteral cytotoxic chemotherapy, ensuring their
clinical and pharmaceutical appropriateness and timely issue.

2. To aid the Lead Oncology Pharmacist in the implementation of procedures, documentation etc. in order to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and national / local guidelines.

Clinical

1. To provide a clinical pharmacy service to paediatric oncology patients and staff of The Harley Street Clinic including prescription monitoring and the provision of drug information and patient counseling.
2. To provide a clinical pharmacy service to pediatric patients in the absence of the pediatric pharmacist.
3. To produce and maintain an accreditation package for all oncology pharmacists to ensure adequately trained pharmacists available for cover.

4. To carry out training of medical and nursing staff in conjunction with the Lead Oncology Pharmacist and the multi-professional team.

Requirements -Masters qualification in Pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent qualification plus one year pre-registration experience
-Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain
-Postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience or qualification
-Non medical prescriber status is preferred.
-Minimum of five years post registration experience and minimum 3 years of specialist paediatrics would be desirable
-Experience of dealing with highly complex clinical issues which require the pharmacist to analyse a range of sources, which may not be in agreement, to formulate a response. In such situations, it may be necessary to find a novel solution to an unusual clinical situation. The pharmacist will have developed negotiating and persuasive skills with other clinical team members, patients and relatives
-Experience of dealing with a wide variety and grade of hospital staff (including senior medical and managerial staff) on a regular and ongoing basis
