Position Summary: To provide a Doctors service to patients in liaison with the patient's own consultant and to give immediate medical attention when requested by nursing.
General
Responsibility:

1. To be present in the hospital during the hours of duty
2.To liaise with and be professionally responsible to the Consultants who are responsible for individual patients and to provide any follow-up care requested by the consultant. To handle all such contracts with a high standard of professionalism and appearance with regard to the reputation, standing and image of the hospital.
3. To make an admission report on individual patients when and so requested by the consultant and to order drugs and invesigations as necessary.
4. To visit patients on a regular basis when requested by the consultants, as part of the daily routine and to update the consultants on the condition of their patients
5. To preform IV therapy and various injections, e.g.isotope, cytotoxic therapy, contrast medium and blood taking when a suitably trained nurse is not available.
6. To report to the Chief Nursing Officer,as soon as possible, all unusual emergencies, accidents or special difficulties, as well as deaths.
7. To maintain regaular updates in resuscitation techniques
8. To remain updated on Basic Life Support and to comply with hospital requirements
i.e that all doctors will be proficient in cardiac techniques appropriate to their role as a Resident Medical Officer.
9. To liaise with the Chief Operating Officer in order to provide a comprehensive Resident Medical Officer service.
10. To perform any other duties as instructed by the Chief Operating Officer in order to provide a comprehensive Resident Medical Officer service.

Requirements Essential Criteria:
Full GMC registration
At least 3 years experience in Oncology/Haematology at Registrar level
Current membership of a medical defemse organisation

Desirable Criteria:
MRCP/MRCS or equivalent
Research Fellow
Publications/Presentations
