Senior Staff Nurse

Position Summary: The main purpose of this post is to work as part of a team to ensure a high standard of nursing care and safety for patients and all service users within Endoscopy.
To provide management and leadership to all staff in the absence of the Sister.
General
Responsibility:

 To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions
 Assist in organisation of clinics to ensure smooth, efficient operations
 Prioritising workloads and directing staff accordingly
 Deputise for Sister, providing management and leadership in her absence
 Assist in nurse-led clinics
 Ensure patients privacy and confidentiality
 Chaperoning and assisting medical staff
 Carry out observations, investigations and treatments as required
 Ensure equipment is in good working order
 To maintain accurate records of patient care
 Organise tests and appointments both within and outside the hospital
 Provide patients and families with information regarding the management of their condition
 Ensure correct labeling and transport of specimens
 Responsible for the control storage and administration of drugs
 Administrative duties as required
 To carry out nursing duties as requested by senior staff
Requirements Registered Nurse Level 1
Experience of clinic speciality desirable
NMC Registration and PREP requirements
2 years post registration experience in Endoscopy
Phlebotomy training desirable
Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
Health and Safety training
Lifting and Handling
Day to day staffing issues in absence of sister
Early recognition of clinical problems and report or take appropriate action
Deal with enquiries and refer as necessary
Handle complaints and refer as appropriate
Dealing with discrepancies on supply issues
To appreciate and adapt to cultural needs
