Position Summary:	We are looking for a Staff Nurse to join us, in our expanding Knee Surgery Unit. This is a busy Unit, and the candidate would be expected to run Clinics on a daily basis in addition to usual nursing duties. The candidate must be NMC Registered able to work under pressure, be resourceful and have excellent time management skills. Phlebotomy and ECG skills are preferred, as is previous experience in a similar setting. Computer skills are essential. If you are able to work flexibly to a degree, and enjoy being part of a small team, this could be the job for you. Highly competitive salary offered.
General Responsibility:	To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions Assist in organisation of clinics to ensure smooth, efficient operations Assist in nurse-led clinics Ensure patients privacy and confidentiality Chaperoning and assisting medical staff Carry out observations, investigations and treatments as required, including phlebotomy and ECG reading. . Ensure equipment is in good working order To maintain accurate records of patient care Organise tests and appointments both within and outside the hospital Provide patients and families with information regarding the management of their condition Ensure correct labeling and transport of specimens Maintain stock levels of supplies/equipment Administrative duties as required To carry out nursing duties as requested by senior staff
Requirements	KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING Registered Nurse Level 1 Experience of clinic speciality desirable UKCC Registration and PREP requirements Phlebotomy training desirable Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures Health and Safety training Lifting and Handling PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY Early recognition of clinical problems and report or take appropriate action Deal with enquiries and refer as necessary Dealing with discrepancies on supply issues To appreciate and adapt to cultural needs SPHERE OF INFLUENCE Liaison with consultants, staff , patients and visitors Liaison with other internal and external departments To demonstrate tact and sensitivity To be efficient and professional in representing the hospital RISK AND RESPONSIBILITY Maintain a high level of clinical practice To take responsibility for own practice, in accordance with UKCC and hospital guidelines/protocols To prevent risks to self, other staff or patients within the unit Maintain confidentiality To maintain and report faulty equipment To keep up to date with current procedures To maintain accurate records SKILLS AND EFFORT Good verbal and non verbal communication skills Flexibility to respond to the needs of the department Good team player Ability to work under pressure Evidence of updating clinical skills/knowledge Evidence of professional and personal development Customer care skills WORKING CONDITIONS Bodily fluids Sharps
