Position Summary: Experienced Patient Administration Assistant required for busy and friendly department based at Golders Green. Numerate, well spoken, able to work under pressure, excellent computer skills essential, previous hospital experience desired.
General
Responsibility:

•To liaise with patients, consultants, third parties and the general public on all aspects of admission and care, including scheduling and financial aspects.
•To check credit worthiness and medical insurance cover.
•To produce accurate and timely invoices for services received.
•To check room availability for admissions.
•Book any necessary tests/investigations.
•To maintain accurate and up to date information on the databases.
•Maintain up to date knowledge on price agreements and billing methods.
•To inform patients of procedures prior to admission.
•Receive monies/credit transactions and record.
•Liaise with embassies regarding facilities and special needs of patients.
•Answer telephone and written enquiries.
•To undertake rotational role, encompassing all duties within patient administration.

Requirements KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
•Good general level of education
•Previous experience in similar role
•Numerate
•Computer literate
•Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
•Health and Safety procedures

PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY
•Resolving queries in a timely manner, seeking assistance as required
•Identifying potential non payments and referring such cases
•To correct/investigate and billing/invoice errors or discrepancies

SPHERE OF INFLUENCE
•Liaison with consultants, managers, staff, patients, third parties and general public
•Demonstrate tact and diplomacy when raising financial issues with patients
•Exhibit caring attitude in response to payment problems
•To be efficient and professional in representing the organization

RISK AND RESPONSIBILITY
•Maintaining confidentiality
•To ensure administrative function of patient admission/treatment is carried out to the highest quality
•Cashiering and banking – handling substantial amounts of money
•To negotiate use of resources i.e. room occupancy, theatre time etc to minimize costs
•Provide accurate and up to date information on request
•To keep up to date with current procedures and hospital agreements
•To maintain databases
•To maintain accurate records
