Position Summary: Catering Assistant position that is based on a 37.5-hour week 5 days on, 2 days off, on a rota shift basis. The position requires an excellent team player, good English skills and is a customer-facing role.

General
Responsibility:

To provide a high level of food service to patients, visitors, consultants and staff, adhering to the department’s policies and procedures

Issue and deliver menus from patients, giving help and advice where necessary
Delivery of food to patients, visitors, consultants and staff
Answer telephone enquiries/orders
Prepare food trays and collect used trays
Wash up dirty utensils
Document ‘extras’ requested by patients
Assist in the staff restaurant
Communicate special requests to the kitchen



Requirements Basic Food Hygiene regulations and practice
Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
Health and Safety training
Lifting and Handling
To be polite and courteous at all times
Maintain standards of hygiene as required by hospital
Ensure timely delivery of food services throughout the hospital
To keep servery area clean and tidy
Maintain patient confidentiality
Compliance with policies and procedures
Good communication skills
Punctuality
Flexibility to respond to the needs of the department
Good team player
